Laren and Aimee are passionate educators, devoted parents, and longtime South City residents. With a shared love for learning and a deep commitment to fostering community connections through music, they bring a special energy to every class.

Their love for world travel is reflected in the music they select, inspired by their time teaching together in Tanzania, Africa, and backpacking through the vibrant landscapes of Thailand.

You’ll often see their three lively children joining in on the fun. Whether they’re dancing, enjoying snacks, or expressing their big feelings, they’re an integral part of the joyful atmosphere.

In their free time, Laren and Aimee love exploring all that city life has to offer, from bike rides around Francis Park and visits to the Botanical Garden to the occasional (and cherished!) date night. Their enthusiasm for music, family, and community shines in every aspect of what they do.

    Laren

    CO-FOUNDER

    Laren takes center stage as the heart and soul of Music and Me classes, bringing a vibrant energy that makes every session unforgettable. Whether he’s encouraging parents to dance, sing, or don a costume, Laren’s playful and empathetic style creates a warm, inclusive space for all. Think of him as a modern-day Mr. Rogers—fun, engaging, and endlessly kind.

    With over 15 years of experience teaching music to children and adults alike, Laren’s expertise spans vocal coaching, drums, autoharp, piano, and more. A well-known local musician and recording artist, he’s produced several albums across various genres, showcasing his passion for creativity and storytelling.

    In 2024 Laren made the leap from his position as a music teacher at City Academy, an independent grade school in North City, to focus on Music and Me.

    He is also the music teacher at Hopemark Preschool which is located inside Hope UCC where we host our indoor classes.

    When he’s not teaching, you’ll find Laren practicing yoga and meditation, binge-watching music documentaries, playing dress up with his kids or enjoying peaceful late-night runs around Francis Park.

    Aimee

    CO-FOUNDER

    Aimee is the organizational powerhouse behind Music and Me, co-planning all lessons with Laren while managing the program’s administration, social media, and marketing. Her dedication ensures every aspect of the program runs smoothly and is filled with meaningful content.

    With a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Aimee brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her work. She spent 13 years teaching 4th grade and ESL in the Mehlville School District before taking a step back to focus on her family when Lilia was born in 2021. This pivotal moment became the spark for launching the music program she and Laren had always envisioned.

    Aimee thoughtfully designs each class, weaving in her expertise to align lessons with developmental milestones, while Laren adds his creative flair and musical expertise. Together, they create an engaging and enriching experience for children and families.

    When she’s not planning or teaching you will find Aimee at a BarreStl workout class, walking at Francis Park or tackling DIY projects around their almost 100 year old house.
