Frequently Asked Questions
What if it rains?
When weather doesn’t cooperate, our South City classes simply move across the street from Francis Park to our indoor space at Hope UCC. We’ll email registered families with any location changes before class.
What if I miss a class?
Life with little kids is unpredictable — we get it! If you miss a class, you’re welcome to attend another Music & Me class during the same session as a make-up, space permitting. Just reach out to us so we can help you find another class that works. You may also save your credit for a future session.
Can I bring a friend?
Absolutely! We love welcoming new families to Music & Me. Friends can register for a drop-in class for $25, and first-time families can use code FIRSTCLASS to try their first class for just $10.
Do you offer sibling discounts?
Yes! For our South City classes, siblings receive 50% off when registering for a session
Classes at The Lodge Des Peres follow The Lodge's registration and pricing policies. Des Peres Residents and The Lodge members receive a $20 off discount. Use code THELODGE20 at checkout.
Can I drop in instead of registering for a full session?
Yes! Limited drop-in spots are available for $25 per class, space permitting.
New to Music & Me? Your first class is just $10 with code FIRSTCLASS at checkout.
Do grown-ups participate?
Yes! Music & Me is designed for children and their grown-ups to experience together. Grown-ups are encouraged to sing, move, play and be silly right alongside their kids.
Don’t worry — no musical experience (or singing ability!) is required. 😉
Are Music & Me classes neurodiversity-affirming?
Yes! Music & Me is intentionally inclusive and neurodiversity-affirming. We welcome different personalities, abilities, sensory needs and ways of engaging.
Children are never expected to sit still, make eye contact or participate in a particular way. They’re welcome to move around, take breaks, observe from the sidelines or join in when they’re ready.
If there’s something that would help your child feel more comfortable in class, you’re always welcome to reach out before your first visit.
What if my kid just wanders around and doesn’t participate?
That’s completely okay! There’s no “right” way to participate in Music & Me. Some children jump right in, while others prefer to watch, wander, move around or stay close to their grown-up.
Children are welcome to participate in whatever way feels comfortable for them. Sometimes the kids who appear to be paying the least attention surprise us by singing every song at home later!.
What should we bring to class?
For our outdoor classes we suggest bringing the following items: a blanket to sit on, snacks, water bottles and sunscreen during the summer months. The class area is partially shaded, but can get some direct sun at times. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes as well.
For our indoor classes you are welcome to bring a blanket, snacks, water. We will have yoga mats available too so it’s a little more comfortable. There are chairs available as well (most of the grandparents that come appreciate this)
Can we join after a session has started?
Absolutely! If space is available, families are welcome to join a session after it has begun. Tuition will be prorated based on the remaining classes.
Do you clean the instruments?
Yes, we use a rinse free toy disinfectant called “Clean Smart” in between classes. It dries fast and kills 99% of germs. We know little ones put everything in their mouths, so we do our best to keep germs from spreading.
